After dedicating 26 years to teaching, with a special focus on children with special educational needs, I developed a deep appreciation for creativity and personal expression. My role as Deputy Head for eight years further honed my leadership skills, and during this time, I pursued a degree with the Open University, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Psychology. Initially, I aspired to become an educational psychologist, but I soon realized that my true passion lay in the dynamic environment of a school rather than a peripatetic role.
Upon retiring from teaching, I found myself still full of energy and eager to embrace a new challenge that would allow me to explore my creative instincts. This led me to train as a stylist with Colour Me Beautiful, and I have never looked back. My work as an image consultant allows me to empower individuals by helping them discover colours and styles that enhance their confidence and self-expression.
In addition to working with individual clients, I also run courses for the University of the Third Age (U3A). These six-week courses cover all aspects of personal image, including colour analysis, body shape styling, makeup application, wardrobe weeding, scarf tying, and shopping guidance. To date, I have delivered 27 of these courses, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to refine their personal style.
Beyond my work, I am committed to maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. As a member of Stockport Walkers, I enjoy regular walks, and I also swim, practice Pilates, and do yoga to stay fit and energized. My family is an essential part of my life; I have two wonderful children—my son runs a cobbler’s shop on Glossop High Street, and my daughter is a clinical psychologist. I am also a proud grandmother to five amazing grandchildren.
For nearly eight years, I volunteered at Christie Hospital, where I facilitated a monthly colour workshop for cancer patients at Maggie’s Centre. These free two-hour workshops provided patients with a much-needed opportunity to focus on themselves and rediscover their confidence through colour. Unfortunately, since the pandemic, the Centre has restructured its offerings, and my workshops are no longer included, but I cherish the time I spent supporting these incredible individuals.
As an image consultant, I am passionate about helping people embrace their best selves through colour and style. Whether working one-on-one or in group settings, my goal is to ensure that everyone I work with leaves feeling more confident, inspired, and equipped to express their unique personality through fashion.
